Dear Dancers,
Thank you for your interest in Cary Ballet
Conservatory's Intensive Summer Training Program 2013. Last year we hosted amazing guest teachers such as Mariaelena
Ruiz, Jerry Rose, Shannon Parsley, Elizabeth Gaither, Kim Sonderegger, Paunika Jones, Maribel Modrono, Tricia Albertson & Maria Chapman and we have exciting plans to make 2013 the most exciting summer ever!
At CBC, we have an outstanding professional faculty, along with renowned guest teachers, who look forward to working with our new, visiting students each summer. It's very rewarding to be able to make a positive impact in the training of young aspiring dancers from across the country and to follow their success as they return, year after year and move on into their careers.
Cary is a safe, friendly, young city centered near the Research Triangle Park, between Raleigh and Chapel Hill, NC. Consistently voted a top city to live in the United States, the quality of life, cultural diversity, educational opportunities and thriving arts community are all unique assets in which Cary Ballet Conservatory plays an important role. We take pride in our warm, friendly atmosphere at CBC with 6 beautiful studios. Our refreshing philosophy ensure all the benefits of advanced training while honoring the etiquette and preserving the timeless tradition of our classical art form.
Attracting gifted dancers from across the country, CBC's visitors and newcomers are welcome friends who often become like family. Through our shared passion for dance, many lifelong friendships are born at CBC.
Previous attendees raved about their invaluable CBC experience and their teachers were delighted with their substantial improvement in technique, strength, and artistry. We aspire to send each dancer home more confident; eager to continue the summer's enthusiastic "intensive" approach as they continue towards their goals.
Our ballet intensive program beginning July 1 focuses on technique and overall advancement. Each level's curriculum is jam-packed with beneficial training; not rehearsal hours. What sets our program apart from others is our flexible enrollment policy, allowing dancers to attend 2, 3 or 5 week sessions for ballet, or six days for our renowned jAZZfEST (June 24th - 29th). More importantly, we provide the very rare opportunity for close interaction with some of the nation's most highly regarded Ballet Masters in a smaller, more personal, nurturing environment. Each session will introduce new guest teachers and variations/choreography. For maximum benefit, we encourage students to attend as many weeks as possible to establish a rapport with our teachers, consistently apply corrections and build upon their training goals from week to week.
Returning June 24-29, our popular annual jAZZfEST provides a special, deeper exploration into jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, modern dance and Broadway Jazz! Students benefit from a daily ballet technique class, followed by exciting master classes where they will learn technique and various choreography from the industry's top professionals. This special week concludes with an informal in-house performance on Saturday, June 29th to showcase the many original combinations taught throughout the week.
We are delighted to offer a special Advanced Ballet Workshop with the world renowned choreographer and Artistic Director of Dance St. Louis, Michael Uthoff, August 5-9. This one week program will offer the opportunity to work closely with Mr. Uthoff as he sets choreography in an atmosphere reminiscent of a professional company. Each day will begin with a ballet technique class, and the rest of the day will be devoted to Repertoire. This exclusive program will be open 30 select advanced and advanced intermediate level students.
Younger dancers can enjoy our Aspiring Dancer Workshp (July 8 - 12, July 15 - 19, July 22 - 26), Junior jAZZfEST (June 24 - 29), or Mini jAZZfEST (June 24 - 29).
Please explore the summer section of our webpage we will continually update information about our intensive program, sample schedule, levels, optional evening class schedule and tuition as it becomes available.
We hope you are able to attend one of our master-class auditions. If you are uable to audition in person, you may submit a simple DVD along with an application and your applicaiton fee. We provide general instructions for our audition videotaping; however we are not concerned with formalities or the professionalism of the videographer. We don't want to burden you or your teachers. Simple footage capturing highlights during a regularly scheduled ballet class is appropriate as long as we can clearly see the applicant. Teachers may submit multiple students on one DVD, as long as we can clearly identify and match each applicant with their individual application form.
This year we are pleased to partner with a local hotel to provide a fully chaperoned, safe, and enriching boarding environment for our extended-stay students. Students will be asked to fill out a housing preference questionnaire which will will use to group students appropriately. Of course, requests for specific roommates will be honored as well. All summer students (visiting and year-round) will enjoy planned social activities together to enhance their summer experience.
At CBC we are always happy to assist you and answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to contact us any time!
